Kim Cattrall's former Sex and the City co-stars, including Sarah Jessica Parker, are not thrilled that news of her upcoming cameo on And Just Like That leaked early.
Cattrall had confirmed June 1 that she would briefly reprise her role of Samantha Jones on the current second season of the sequel series, a day after Variety reported she had filmed a surprise appearance without interacting with the cast or showrunner Michael Patrick King, and has since spoken about her SATC return in the press. The news comes amid years of rumored tensions between the actress and Parker, who plays main character Carrie Bradshaw.
"Couldn't have been more upset," Parker told Andy Cohen on Sirius XM's Radio Andy June 29, regarding the cameo news leak, "It's a big bummer because it would have been so like, fireworks in the middle. Also, because we want to make sure that expectations are real."
Parker did offer some info on Cattrall's cameo, which follows a text conversation between the actress's characters on the And Just Like That season one finale.
"It's a little exchange that is happy and it says everything about their relationship," Parker told Cohen. "It comes at a significant moment in the series."
Meanwhile, co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis have also weighed in on the leaked news of Cattrall's cameo.
"We tried so hard to keep it quiet," Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbs, said on the June 29 episode of Cohen's Bravo talk show Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. "We're really sorry it got out."
And Davis, who reprises her role of Charlotte York Goldenblatt on And Just Like That, said June 22 on the Australian morning talk series Today, "We didn't really want the information out. We wanted it to be a surprise."
And Just Like That season two is currently streaming weekly on Max.
